Our private dining room is low-ceilinged and intimate - the perfect place for a family celebration or a real old-fashioned blow-out.  There are rumours of the Oxford undergraduate dining society, The Assassins, spending Bacchanalian nights here in the past and causing mayhem.

We are more than happy for you to hold business meetings in the private room or more informally around the pub. We have free wireless internet access throughout, can offer peace away from your office and the same great friendly and welcoming service with a beer or two at the end of your meeting!

When we came to the Thatch five years ago we restored the Tudor part, keeping the double-sided inglenook fireplace ablaze with log on chilly days, polishing the well-trodden flagstones and quarry tiles on the floor, and bought sympathetic antique pieces to furnish it.  In the new lime-rendered and traditionally roofed eatery to the rear we have carried through the same colours and furnished it with English bespoke-made furniture in sustainable oak.  The rear courtyard has been laid with flagstones and landscaped with borders of choisya and English roses to make an idyllic place to sit out and eat or drink when the weather is kind.  Raymond Blanc described the restoration of the building as creating 'a little jewel' and Oxfordshire Life called it 'cosy and chic'.
