A new chapter....Soft Launch and Party
16 November 2007
Hello everyone -
Sorry its been so long since my last blog update. We opened last tuesday for our soft launch which proved to be really successful. The bookings were controlled and low numbered so that we could ensure that any initial set-up issues were ironed out without too many problems. Mostly, the response was really positive and all our guests seemed really happy with the food and service. Apologies again to those that didnt manage to get a table.
Our 'house warming' party last night was another success and a great way to mark the beginning of our new journey. We had almost a 100% turnout from our invites and Jeremy and I got to speak to a lot of locals, which was great. Unfortunately the postal service let us down with some of our intended guests not receiving invites, which we really apologise for, but rest assured that Jeremy and I intend for their to be many opportunities in the next year where we open our 'home' up to everybody and really get to know all those we share the town with.
The last week or so has really been a steep learning curve for us and everyday we learn more and feel a little more comfortable in our new roles. We still have a long way to go though and we hope you can share that journey with us.
The biggest shock to us have been the huge number of calls to make a reservation - we are currently receiving a call every 2 minutes and at least 60 voicemail messages every morning to down load and follow up. There are also a substantial amount of email enquiries too. The reservations are being taken care of off-site by Penny and we have now had to recruit a second girl, Brooke, to help out. We hope to have an on-line bookings system in place by the end of next week but in the meantime, huge apologies to those that have left messages that are yet to be returned - you havent been forgotten, and please bear with us as we go through this busy initial period.
Just a quick reminider though that we have a great bar and lounge area that is open for drinks and/or snacks from 12 noon, all day everyday. We do not reserve tables in these areas and we look forward to welcoming you to pop in and say hello and have a nice glass of wine or pint of locally brewed ale by our open fire - great for a cold winters day!
Well, this is the first day of a new chapter in mine and Jeremy's life. We are so excited that our dream of running our own restaurant really has turned in to reality, and we look forward to many happy years in Thame.
Hope to see you all soon
Jane x
P.S. We are planning to update the format of the website very soon to make it more user-friendly and so that Menus and general information are easier to access. Please be patient while we carry out the work. Thanks. |
